Unit 7 Enterprise skills

Unit 7

Processes and Techniques Used to Create the Product or Service

Although I was new to Premier Elements I found it very easy to use it to edit the video. I used many editing techniques through the process of editing my video and they all helped the video look more professional. One of the editing techniques I used was changing the lighting of the video as the videos quality wasn’t very good and therefore made the advert look less professional, however when you darken the video it makes the video look better quality. Another thing I had to do to make this advert possible was to make sure the halls were empty to use for my videos filming side of it, as many times I got turned away as the halls were full.

How the Service Meets the Requirements of the Brief

I feel that my final product met my brief well as I studied the brief over and over to ensure that I followed it religiously. An example from the brief that I followed was “teenagers that are overweight and want to make a difference to their life”. I followed this by using teenagers during the adverts of different shapes and sizes to show that anyone can do it whoever you are. Another way I reached this brief is to film it in a school setting, as this shows you can do it anywhere.  I wanted to make the advert have a message pop up during it half way, to connote that you can do it however far you are into life.

How the Product or Service Adheres to Appropriate Codes and Conventions

The normal conventions of a highly viewed advert are to have a hint of comedy in the advert, as this will make your potential customers happy, and then relate happiness to your company; you also expect to see fairly high paced editing for my genre of advert, as it raises the heart rate like exercise.

How you Used Initiative and Solved Problems

During this assignment I had to use my initiative because I had to work independently throughout the project. The main place I had to solve problems was when I was editing, as I had never used the software; this meant I had to use trial and error to figure out how the software worked and how to make the advert look more professional. I also had to use initiative to make sure I use the right conventions to attract the right audience I am aiming for, this was mainly by filming it at a school, which shows that you can exercise at any place.

Independent and Team Working

Not being used to working independently very often this was one of the hardest skills to learn and use, however after using it for a couple day I found it much more bearable and easier to work off my own instinct. Although there was a hint of independent learning the majority of work completed was settled in a small group, although this may cause some distraction it was a lot easier to gain an idea of what to do and how to do it. In the group we often discuss work within our groups to help each other

Time Management skills Demonstrated

In this assignment it is critical that you can manage time as there are very short and strict deadlines to reach. It is a very important to reach these deadlines as if you don’t get these in on time you get an automatic fail. The main place I found time management useful was setting a time to have all the filming done by, as I gave myself more time to edit as that is the process that takes longest as I have not used the software before and needed to learn how to use it successfully. I gave myself a week to film and a week after just in case I needed to film extra footage, and left myself two definite weeks to edit. I feel that if I didn’t use time management I would have spent to long filming and therefore not have enough time to edit.

Using enterprise skills to generate ideas
The main enterprise skill used to generate ideas in intuitive decision making and having a creative approach to problem solving. These help because they help you make decisions and come up with unique ideas that will separate your advert from the group.
Secondary Data
The secondary data I used was mainly to see the most viewed adverts and then watching them and seeing why this is the case. From my secondary data research I discovered that the most viewed advert currently on YouTube is the Clash of Clans: Revenge super bowl advert that at this very moment has 141,644,520 views, which is a very high number. I believe it got this amount of views because it is funny, and has the famous actor Liam Neeson featuring in it. Although this advert is exaggerated there is a slight hint of truth in what is happening in it, and I know this from personal experience with Clash of Clans. Although Supercell didn't know this advert was going to be as big of a success as it was it was going to get a huge amount of viewers as they paid for it to be advertised on the super bowl and in the year it was on the super bowl had over '167,000,000 viewers'  (https://www.google.co.uk/?gfe_rd=cr&ei=4oZKWPdi5e_wB6WKg9gC&gws_rd=ssl#q=super+bowl+2016+viewers' from all over the world. If this advertising scheme didn't work supercell would have lost a lot of money as a 30 second advert on the superbowl can cost as much as '$5 million U.S dollars' (https://www.google.co.uk/?gfe_rd=cr&ei=4oZKWPdi5e_wB6WKg9gC&gws_rd=ssl#q=the+cost+to+put+an+advert+on+the+superbowl+2016)
